Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will my pendant look exactly like the one shown on your Web site?
A: All of our pendants are unique. The photos are representative of what you will receive, and while yours will be similar, it will be one-of-a-kind.
Q: Are the patterns shown on your Web site the only designs you make?
A: We make pendants in hundreds of different patterns. We are only able to offer a fraction of them online. For additional designs, please visit us at an upcoming event, visit one of our retailers, or host a Pendant Party!
Q: Can you see the letter or the dots on the back of the pendant?
A: Yes, the design is applied to the "smooth" side of the game tile so the reverse side shows its characteristics. People say, "Oh, I love your pendant!" and it's great to see their reaction when you flip the pendant over to reveal its origin!
Q: How long will it take for me to receive my order?
A: We are generally able to ship out your order within 4-5 days of receipt. We ship via first class mail from either Kingston, MA or High Falls, NY. Please allow up to two weeks for us to ship orders that contain a custom request.
Q: How do I care for my Sisteria Pendant?
A: Our handcrafted pendants are finished with a durable jewelry-grade resin and are water-resistant, however, they are not meant to be worn while swimming or showering and should not be left in direct sunlight.
Q: What kind of "game tiles" do you use for your pendants?
A: The pendants you see on our Web site are made from Scrabble® tiles or ivory-colored resin dominoes. However, we are always scouring flea markets and yard sales for new and interesting shaped game tiles that we can transform into jewelry!
Q: What type of papers do you use on your pendants?
A: We use Japanese chiyogami paper, also known as yuzen or washi, which is a type of hand-silk screened mulberry paper. These papers are often embellished with gold and consist of repeated patterns based on traditional designs, including flowers, plants, butterflies, birds or geometric patterns.
Q: I have an old Scrabble game that's missing a few pieces. Would you like the tiles?
A: Don't put them in a landfill! Please contact us and we'll let you know how to get them to us...and we'll happily send you a piece of jewelry in trade!
Q: Do you do custom orders?
A: If you have something in mind that you don’t see offered in our online store, don't hesitate to ask! Maybe you'd like to have us do a set of coordinating pendants for a bridal party or other group. Not a problem!
Q: What’s the significance of the Sisteria Designs logo?
A: The Sisteria Designs logo is a version of a Buddhist crest showing two wisteria flowers that form a circle with two intertwining vines (two sisters!) in the center.
Q: Who created your wonderful new Web site?
A: We would like to thank Rufus Hale who designed our new site and built the online store.
Q: Who took the gorgeous "people pictures" on your site? Are those professional models?
A: The pictures were taken by Bethany Bandera, a professional photographer, at a wedding for which we created a set of custom pendants for the wedding party. Thanks to the bridesmaids and the photographer for allowing us to use the pictures on our site!
